Cookie policy

Colruyt Group attaches the utmost importance to values such as respect and trust.
At the same time we want to enable you to make optimum use of our websites and applications, in a way that is tailored to your personal preferences. To that end, we use various techniques on our websites and apps, including cookies, JavaScripts, web beacons, SDKs and pixels. Hereinafter, these techniques will be collectively referred to as 'cookies’. You can choose which cookies to accept and which not.

This cookie policy applies to the current website.

This cookie policy should be read in conjunction with our privacy statement, which you can find here:

Privacy Policy

Who is responsible for processing your data?

COLRUYT GROUP NV
Edingensesteenweg 196, 1500 HALLE
CBE VAT BE 0400.378.485 RPR Brussels

1a. What are cookies?

Cookies are small files that are stored on your computer whenever you visit a web page or app. They contain information linked to a web browser and the specific website or app. Cookies consist of two components: the name and the content. They are stored in a specific folder on your hard drive and provided with a unique ID and retention time. Cookies enable the website to recognise you the next time you visit it and to further build up your history. Some cookies are automatically cleared when you leave the website, others remain on your computer as long as you do not clear them yourself.

Cookies are no active, executing software and are therefore not harmful to your device. They are not always of a commercial nature either. Cookies are used to make things easier for you: the use of cookies to identify visitors saves you from having to enter the same data such as login information or screen settings over and over again. Moreover, cookies are used to map out the surfing behaviour of visitors. Which and how many pages do they visit, using which path and how long do they stay on the website?

Colruyt Group wants to customise its services as much as possible, taking into account your specific needs and preferences. To do so, we add personal data collected through cookies to the information we already have through your Xtra profile. If you are logged in with your Xtra profile and visit our app or websites, we also store your browsing and clicking behaviour in your Xtra profile. This allows us to better adapt our digital solutions, including the app, the websites as well as our other direct marketing, to your needs and requirements (personalisation). This will of course only be done provided you have given your consent thereto via the cookie banner that appears on our website when you first visit it. You can change this or withdraw your consent at any time should you wish to do so. Point 6 explains how to do this. If you reject cookies or do not click our cookie banner, only strictly necessary cookies will be stored on your device.

The choice you make on this website about which cookies you wish to accept is also shared with the domain login.myxtra.be when you choose to log in with your Xtra profile. This domain provides the ability to log in via Xtra. This shared consent makes logging in smoother and eliminates the need to re-enter your cookie preferences through a cookie banner.

1b. What are the other techniques?

JavaScripts, web beacons, SDKs and pixels are standard internet techniques that, together with cookies, ensure that a system can collect information, store it in small, simple text files and then send it. Cookies and other techniques are used on practically all existing websites and apps.

2. What types of cookies are there?

First-party cookies are cookies that are stored by the website you are visiting. They can only be read by that particular website. In addition, a website may use external services that also store their own cookies, the so-called third-party cookies.

3. Which types of cookies do we use?

Strictly necessary cookies (always enabled)

These cookies are necessary for the website to work properly and cannot be disabled. Therefore, no consent is required for this type of cookies. In most cases, they are only used in response to an action through which you are essentially requesting a service, for example, registering of your privacy settings, logging into the website or filling out a form. These cookies do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII).

Functional cookies

These cookies enable the website and apps to work properly and to offer additional features and customised settings. They for instance help to remember and store the products that you have added to your online shopping list and to keep track of your login details to prevent you from having to re-enter them on every visit. These cookies are set by us or by third-party service providers that we have placed on our pages. We do however never store them without your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time by following the procedure described in point 6.

Performance and analytic cookies

These cookies allow us to count visitors and keep track of their origin in order to analyse and improve the performance of our website. They help us understand which pages are most or least popular and how visitors move around the site. All information collected by these cookies is aggregated. We never store these cookies without your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time by following the procedure described in point 6.

Targeted cookies

We may set and use targeting cookies to show you relevant and personalised ads on and across our websites. If you are logged in with your Xtra profile, we also use information from that profile to show the most relevant ads. These cookies also ensure that we can still show you personalised ads based on the information in your Xtra profile when you are no longer logged in with that same Xtra profile.

We can share target groups across our websites. We only do this when you have accepted targeting cookies and only to be able to show you personalised ads about our offerings across our various websites and partners.

A list of websites that may display ads or share target audiences can be found via this link.

These cookies can also be stored by the advertisers on our website. These also include our social media cookies. They can be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other websites. They do not store any direct personal information but are based on unique identifiers of your browser and internet device. We only store these cookies if you have given your consent thereto. You can withdraw your consent at any time by following the procedure described in point 6.

4. How long are cookies kept?

How long a cookie is kept differs from one cookie to another. In this respect, we distinguish two types of cookies

Temporary cookies ("session cookies”): these are cookies that are of a temporary nature and are cleared as soon as you close your browser;
Permanent cookies (“persistent cookies”): these cookies will remain on your device until their retention period has expired or until you manually clear them from your device.

Cookies can be first-party, third-party, persistent or session cookies.

Some providers of cookies on our websites are the following (non-exhaustive). Below is the information these partners themselves provide about their technology (incl. cookies):

Google: https://business.safety.google/privacy/

Adobe: https://www.adobe.com/be_nl/privacy.html

Meta: https://nl-be.facebook.com/privacy/explanation/

Pinterest: https://policy.pinterest.com/en/privacy-policy

Tealium: https://tealium.com/privacy-policy/

Below is an overview of cookies used, their category; the data they store and their retention time on this website.

5. How can I manually clear or disable cookies?

You can manage/clear cookies as you wish.

How to clear cookies from your device.
You can delete all cookies that are already stored on your device by clearing your browser's browsing history. This will remove all cookies from all websites you have visited.

Be aware though that you may also lose some saved information (e.g. saved login details, site preferences).

Managing site-specific cookies.
For a more detailed control over site-specific cookies, check the privacy and cookie settings in your preferred browser. For details - see https://aboutcookies.org/how-to-control-cookies/.

Blocking cookies.
Most modern browsers can be configured to prevent cookies from being stored on your device. That may however mean that you have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site or page. Also, some services and features may not work properly (e.g. logging in).

6. How to set cookies on this website

You can change your settings very easily by simply clicking the link 'Cookie settings' at the bottom of the screen of this website.

7. Any questions or complaints about our cookie policy?

If you have any questions/complaints or would like to learn more about how we handle your personal data, please contact our Data Protection Officer (DPO).

You can do this in three ways:

  • by writing a letter to Edingensesteenweg 196, 1500 Halle
  • by sending an email to privacy@colruytgroup.com
  • by calling +32(0)2 363 54 00

You can also always contact the Data Protection Authority, Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels, +32 (0)2 274 48 35, contact@apd-gba.be in case of questions or complaints.

8. Update cookie policy

Colruyt Group may change this cookie policy at any time in the future. Note that only the most recent version applies. We therefore advise you to consult this cookie policy on a regular basis.

This cookie policy was last modified on 03/11/2025.
